Mission Statement

The mission of the Monte Vista Recreation Department is to provide high-quality. affordable and diverse recreational opportunities for the residents of Monte Vista and the Dan Luis Valley. To do this, the department will:

  • Match the programs and activities we offer to the needs and desires of our participants 
  • Provide quality supervision and instruction for all of our programs and activities
  • Provide safe and clean rental facilities for trade shows, special events, parties, conferences and conventions
  • Offer multi-generational programs that will satisfy all ages of participation
  • Keep costs affordable so that as many participants as possible can enjoy the department's offerings.


Our responsibilities include the following:

  • Maintain, manage, and provide rental opportunities for Ski Hi Park 
    (32,000 square foot facility including a gym and rodeo arena)
  • Provide recreational sports for ages 4 through 14
  • Provide recreational sports for adults 16 on up
