Volunteers Needed for City Planning, Zoning Boards
The city is seeking volunteers to serve as members on boards relating to land use issues in the community. Several vacancies will occur at the end of 2009.
Members are needed for the following groups:
·Board of Adjustment, one 3-year regular term and one 3-year alternate term. The Board of Adjustment hears appeals related to land use, including variances from the city code. Terms will expire Dec. 31, 2012. Members of this board must be city residents. The board meets at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, as needed.
·Planning and Zoning Commission, one 2-year term and one 1-year term. The Planning and Zoning Commission considers and makes recommendations to City Council regarding land use applications, such as rezoning requests, subdivision plats and special review use applications. Terms will expire Dec. 31, 2010 and Dec. 31, 2011. The one-year term is a vacancy that will be served out. Members of this board are not required to be residents of the city but must have interests here, such as property or business ownership. The commission meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month and sometimes for study sessions on the third Tuesday of the month.
