Mission Statement

The Parks and Recreation Department will provide high quality recreational services for both youth and adults, care of city owned parks, and maintain Ski Hi Park Facility.

Our responsibilities include the following:

  • Landscape and maintain 72 acres of city owned parks
  • Maintain, manage, and provide rental opportunities for Ski Hi Park
    (32,000 square foot facility including a gym and rodeo arena)
  • Provide recreational sports for ages 4 through 14
  • Provide recreational sports for adults 16 on up
  • Coordinating with Public Works regarding planting, trimming, and removing of city owned trees
  • Work closely with the Monte Vista Tree Board

Within this facility is a 25,000 square foot multi-use building with the following:

  • Kitchen
  • Basketball court
  • Rodeo Arena and grandstands

City Parks

Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 72 acres of parks within the city limits of Monte Vista.  Maintenance of these parks include aerating, fertilizing, spraying for weeds, proper watering, mowing, weed eating, and daily trash removal.

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the following parks and grounds:

  • Chapman Park
  • City Hall/H.M.O.
  • Adrian Gutierrez baseball field/tennis courts
  • Sanchez Park
  • Uptown Parking Lot
  • Fullenwider Park
  • Island Park
  • Montez Park (3 parks)
  • Marsh Park (2 parks)
